The Public Guardian
In California, the Public Guardian is the arm of the County social services which has the authority and the responsibility to petition for conservatorship in those cases where protection is needed and no one else is willing or able to take action.
The Public Guardian serves as a vital safety net, protecting our community.
The agency called APS, or Adult Protect Services, investigates cases of alleged abuse and neglect. If the circumstances are appropriate, the case will be referred to the Public Guardian for the filing of conservatorship.
